A 65-year-old Newark woman is now $300,000 richer after winning the top prize in the Mega Bucks Blowout scratch-off ticket.

The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased the winning ticket at Food Lion in Beaver Plaza in New Castle, according to the Delaware Lottery. She claimed her winnings on July 17.

The woman regularly plays $30 tickets and usually buys one or two a week. Officials said this is the first time she has won such a large amount.

She and her husband feel very fortunate to have won the award, which came at just the right time as they have long wanted to renovate their home and use the rest to save for the future, officials said.

“We are delighted to congratulate our recent MEGA BUCKS BLOWOUT winner,” said Helene Keeley, Director of the Delaware Lottery. “It's wonderful to see our players win so big. It's a testament to the excitement and opportunity our games offer.”

There is also a top prize of $300,000 for the Mega Bucks Blowout scratch card.
