Israel announced that it had killed a Hezbollah commander in an airstrike in the southern Lebanese district of Tyre.

The Israeli military said its forces eliminated Hussein Ibrahim Kaseb in a drone attack on his motorcycle.

Kaseb was said to be the commander of Hezbollah's elite Radwan Special Operations Forces unit.

Lebanon's state news agency confirmed the attack and said one person was killed.

Hezbollah has not confirmed these allegations.

After months of cross-border shelling, fears are growing about the possibility of an all-out war between Israel and Hezbollah, particularly after Hezbollah threatened military retaliation following the July 30 attack.th Killing of their commander-in-chief Fuad Shukr in an Israeli air strike on Beirut.

The escalation comes against the backdrop of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, in which more than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed since October last year.
