Alex Pereira drops his coldest line yet after watching Israel Adesanya lose to Dricus du Plessis at UFC 305

Following Dricus du Plessis's stunning victory over Israel Adesanya at UFC 305, Alex Pereira dropped his coldest line yet.

Du Plessis defeated Adesanya in the fourth round of their UFC middleweight championship fight at UFC 305 last weekend.

Fans online noticed what Adesanya did just seconds before giving up, suffering two consecutive losses for the first time in his MMA career.

Even though the victory is still fresh in Du Plessis' mind, his next opponent seems to have already been decided, as Dana White revealed that Sean Strickland is next in line for a chance at UFC gold.

But Pereira hopes to overtake Strickland and score a hit of his own against 'DDP.

The current UFC light heavyweight king took to social media to challenge the South African star after UFC 305.

He posted a picture of himself with Du Plessis' hands raised in the background on the television screen, with the caption: “Getting down to 185 one more time.”

Of course, “Poatan” held the belt at 185 pounds before moving up to a higher weight class.

He stopped Adesanya and won the UFC middleweight title, but lost the rematch.

But Du Plessis does not believe the Brazilian should return to middleweight and insists he will move up and face him at 205lbs.

“I honestly don’t think Alex Pereira should go down to 185 pounds,” he said in his post-fight press conference.

“If he wants to? Great. Perfect. But then we'll hear the excuses. I saw Izzy stiffen that man in the (second) round. I felt Izzy's punching power. Izzy has great timing. He's fast, he's long and he has great combinations, but I felt the power. If Izzy stiffens you like that, you don't want to be in there with me – especially if you come with the excuse, 'I lost too much weight.'”

“That's going to happen. That's what everyone's going to say. So stay at 205. Fight the No. 8 ranked guy (Khalil Rountree at UFC 307). Cool. Fight there and enjoy it. If (Sean) Strickland is the next fight that people want to see – that's the fight that people want to see and that's the fight that people think is the next best guy – that's the fight I want. So let me do my thing, you do yours.

“You don't have to lose weight to have an excuse. I'm going to get back on my feet after the Strickland fight. I'm going to get up to 205 pounds and then we'll figure it out.”
