NEW YORK — Amtrak service between New York and Philadelphia resumed tonight (Aug. 18) after a flood-related disruption; NJ Transit and Metro-North Railroad also reported flood-related service disruptions.

Amtrak said in a statement on its website at 10:25 p.m. ET that the closure of all tracks between New York Penn Station and Philadelphia 30th Street Station had been lifted, but that additional delays of 30 to 90 minutes were expected. The company had previously said in a statement at 8:30 p.m. ET that it was “working diligently” to resolve the issue, which requires a mandatory track inspection.

NJ Transit was still reporting as of 10:40 p.m. ET that service on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast lines was suspended due to weather-related issues near Newark International Airport. The agency's Newark Light Rail line, which had been suspended due to flooding near its Park Avenue station, is back in service.

Meanwhile, Metro-North Railroad is reporting flooding problems on its Danbury and Waterbury lines. Both lines are closed until at least Monday morning, while the New Canaan line is experiencing delays due to previous flooding. In a post on X.com, Metro-North recommends that passengers use the New Haven or Harlem lines for Monday morning travel.
