“Big conspiracy against the country”: Akhilesh Yadav attacks the central government for lateral entry into government jobs

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the central government over the lateral entry into the civil service, calling it a “grand conspiracy” against the country.

The SP MP alleged that the lateral entry was a plan to deprive the PDA (Pichhde, Dalit and Alpsankhyak) of their reservations and rights.

“It is time to start a nationwide movement against the conspiracy hatched by the BJP to get its ideological allies into high government positions through the back door of the UPSC. This method will close the doors of today's civil servants as well as the youth to higher positions in the present and future. The common people will be confined to the positions of employees and servants. In fact, the whole plan is to snatch reservations and rights from the PDA,” the SP chief posted on X.

Akhilesh Yadav said the BJP-led central government should immediately withdraw the lateral entry as it was not in the national interest.

“After learning that the PDAs across the country have woken up and stopped taking its tactic of scrapping the Constitution seriously, the BJP wants to prevent reservation under another pretext by making direct recruitment for such posts. The BJP government should immediately withdraw this strategy as it is not in the national interest,” he said.

“The BJP wants to do arbitrary work by keeping officials with its own party ideology in the government. Such people who come to office from the government can never be impartial. The integrity of such people will always be questioned,” the SP leader added. He also asked the youth and officials of the country to take part in a new movement from October 2 if the BJP government does not withdraw the lateral entry. “Officials and youth across the country are requested to stand shoulder to shoulder with us from October 2 and start a new movement if the BJP government does not withdraw the lateral entry. We will not tolerate corporate takeover of the government machinery because the capitalist mindset of rich corporates is to make maximum profit. This thinking depends on the exploitation of others, while our 'socialist thinking' revolves around the nutrition and welfare of the poor, peasants, workers, employees and ordinary people who do their small work, business or shop. This is a big conspiracy against the country,” he said.

The UPSC recently issued a notification for recruitment of joint secretaries, directors and deputy secretaries through lateral entry. This decision has drawn criticism from opposition parties who claim that it undermines the reservation rights of OBCs, SCs and STs.

Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi also expressed concerns on Sunday about lateral entry of individuals into high government positions. He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was appointing officials through the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) instead of going through the traditional route through the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

The Congress leader said in a post on X: “Narendra Modi is attacking the Constitution by recruiting civil servants through the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh instead of the Union Public Service Commission.”

“Reservations for SC, ST and OBC categories are being openly snatched away by lateral recruitment to important posts in various central government ministries,” Rahul Gandhi said on X. (ANI)
