Football loses 0-2 in Tennessee on Sunday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Chattanooga fell 2-0 to Tennessee in women's soccer action Sunday night at Regal Soccer Stadium. The Mocs fell to 0-1-1 and the Lady Vols improved to 1-1.

Caroline Ekern and the Mocs defense kept UT from scoring with three saves in the first half. However, the difference was made by two goals by the Lady Vols in the second half.

The first goal was scored in the 64th minute.th in the minute with a shot into the penalty area, and the second goal came 15 seconds before the end of the game, just out of Ekern's reach.

Ekern made four saves and Paige Thomas was the Mocs’ only shot on goal in the second half.

Both teams received two yellow cards in the fitness test and UTK had five corner kicks, the Mocs one. Tennessee had 17 shots on goal, Chattanooga one, six of which were on goal.

“We faced high-caliber opponents before the SoCon game to challenge ourselves,” said Mocs head coach Gavin McKinney said. “It drives us to improve every aspect of our game. Today's game had many bright spots and our foundation is strong. We look forward to our next game.”

Chattanooga is still on the road to face Austin Peay on Thursday night in Clarksville, Tennessee, with the game set to begin at 7 p.m. Eastern Time.
