The fatal accident is the 12th traffic fatality this year and the sixth involving a motorcycle, according to Des Moines police.

The accident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Friday night when a 2019 Lexus SUV, driven by a 44-year-old Des Moines resident, was traveling westbound on Euclid Street and attempted to turn left onto Wright Street.

Trevor Vinzant, 23, who was riding a 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound on Euclid, collided with the SUV, which had entered the intersection with Wright Street.
