Alabama Public Library Service offers free online homework help

MONTGOMERY, Alabama (WSFA) – School is back in session, and that means more students are taking homework. The Alabama Public Library Service is making sure they can get the help they need online.

Learners of all ages can get homework help anytime, anywhere, from any internet-enabled device with just one click. APLS provides support to students through Homework Alabama.

Homework Alabama is an online resource that offers free one-on-one tutoring over the internet. There are more than 4,000 tutors with expertise in over 60 subjects.

Melinda Smith, a librarian at APLS, says Homework Alabama has been used more in the last decade than ever before.

“This is much better than paying a tutor for each individual child, which often costs hourly rates,” Smith said. “All tutors are rigorously screened. They are subject matter experts, they ask questions, they encourage, they empower, and they are available every day from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Homework Alabama also offers drop-off services for tutoring, test prep, and other resources for graduate students and adults pursuing careers.

Smith says Homework Alabama will be getting a completely new look in the coming weeks that will be a little more in line with the state library's website.
