Slight cooling trend predicted for the Palm Springs region this week

Riverside County is expected to cool slightly in the second half of this week, meteorologists said Sunday, but highs in some areas will still be above 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

“Maximum temperatures are expected to begin falling as early as Wednesday, with a cooling trend expected through Friday,” the National Weather Service said.

Highs on Sunday reached 93 degrees in the Riverside area, 89 degrees in the Temecula Valley and 106 degrees in the Coachella Valley.

In the Coachella Valley, temperatures will be 109 on Monday and 112 on Tuesday, falling to 106 by Wednesday and 103 on Friday and Saturday, according to current forecasts. Lows in the Coachella Valley will fall from the mid-80s to start the week to the mid-70s by Thursday night and into the weekend.

Meteorologists predict temperatures in the Riverside area will be near 90 degrees through Wednesday, falling to 90 degrees by Thursday, 90 degrees on Friday and 90 degrees on Saturday. According to the NWS, nighttime temperatures in the area are expected to be near 70 degrees to start the week, falling to near 60 degrees by the end of the week.

In Temecula Valley, highs will be 94 degrees on Monday, 98 on Tuesday and 93 on Wednesday, dropping to the upper 80s on Thursday and over the weekend. Lows in Temecula Valley will drop to the upper 60s early in the week and lower 60s Wednesday night through the weekend, according to the NWS.
