Reports of ‘gas leak’ in Corporation Street, Bolton

Firefighters, police and paramedics were called to Corporation Street at around 10:30am today, Sunday.

An area was cordoned off and Cadent Gas technicians were also called to deal with the incident. The incident was resolved in just over an hour.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “Just before 10.30am this morning, Sunday 18 August, three fire engines from Bolton North and Farnworth fire stations were called to a gas leak in Corporation Street, Bolton.

“The teams were quickly on site and examined the situation with a gas detector.

“They worked closely with Cadent Gas and the North West Ambulance Service to secure the area before departing after approximately one hour and 10 minutes.”

Corporation Street is often busy on weekends as it is located right in front of the Market Place shopping centre in the city centre.

No serious injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
