BALTIMORE – WJZ’s First Alert Weather Team has issued a Day of Watch for today due to the possibility of strong to severe storms this afternoon.

The morning will start relatively calmly with temperatures between 18 and 21 degrees. Today, mostly cloudy to partly cloudy skies are expected. After midday, there may be a little more sunshine. By early afternoon, temperatures will quickly rise to 27 to 30 degrees.

This afternoon is expected to be a day of severe weather, with a higher chance of severe storms in the afternoon and evening. Isolated strong to severe storms will develop after 2 p.m. It looks like some stronger storms may develop east of I-95. These storms appear to be a little more widespread than yesterday and may produce damaging winds and flash flooding. Please pay attention to the weather on Sunday and be aware of some ways to receive warnings.

In addition, due to impending storms, a flood warning is in effect for parts of the region until 8 p.m. this evening.

All severe storms should be over before 10 p.m. on Sunday. Sunday night will be partly cloudy and mild with lows between 18 and 20 degrees.

This slow-moving cold front will finally cross the area on Monday and could produce a scattered shower or thunderstorm tomorrow afternoon before finally moving away. Fortunately, the storms on Monday are not expected to be very severe.

Tuesday will see a refreshing and almost autumnal vibe that will last through Wednesday. We'll experience a mix of clouds and sunshine. Afternoon temperatures will be below average, ranging between 25 and 30 degrees. Early morning temperatures will drop to 10 degrees in most areas!

This forecast will be dominated by high pressure until the start of next weekend. This means that from Thursday to Saturday there will be continued sunshine and the temperature will gradually warm up. Highs on Thursday will be around 27 degrees, rising to over 30 degrees by the start of next weekend. A return to the typical August feeling!
