Gamrot started well, showing improved hands and hurting Hooker standing up before attempting to wrestle him. “The Hangman” defended well and wobbled his Polish opponent towards the end of the first round. The second round was extremely competitive, with Hooker landing the more impactful strikes but Gamrot holding his own and taking the New Zealander to the ground. In the third round, the two men mostly just traded blows, with Gamrot attempting to wrestle him in spurts, but these attacks were largely fended off by Hooker.

The judges were tasked with determining the winner, and when the tens and nines were tallied, it was Hooker who came away with his hands raised, earning the win in this outstanding fight between two elite lightweight talents.
