Ringgold police confirmed they are investigating the incident but told us they could not release any further details until the investigation is complete.

McClure's brother Collin Le said: “I am at a loss for words and I have not yet grasped the reality.”

He posted on Facebook: “I guess I'm writing this to make other people aware that taking an extra three minutes to double check could save someone's life.”

Her brother said, “This morning my sister Autumn and her boyfriend took my little brother to daycare.

“While driving on the highway, a brake caliper/drum flew out of the bed of a truck, smashed through the windshield and struck her in the chest and neck. She died before emergency responders could arrive.”

According to Collin, McClure's 21st birthday is next month.

“I could talk for days about how sweet and gentle she was. How she didn't deserve any of this and how heartbroken I am,” he said.

Collin started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the immediate family during this difficult time.

“Autumn has lived in Soddy-Daisy her entire life. Autumn was the runner-up of the class of 2022 at Soddy-Daisy High School,” the GoFundMe campaign said.

She held an associate degree from Chattanooga State Community College and was currently enrolled in the graphic design program there.

“Autumn loved the beach and animals, especially her pets. She enjoyed going to concerts, paddling and hiking.”
