According to the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal, a man has been charged with threatening to burn down his rental home in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Randy L. Sigler, 65, was taken into custody Friday on charges of threatening to set fire to a fire, officials said.

Officers said they were called to a dispute between a landlord and tenant in the 13600 block of Grandview Drive in Hagerstown.

The landlord told officers that while cleaning out the basement, she and her husband told Sigler that they had decided to sell the house he was renting. Sigler became angry, the landlord told police, and threatened to burn the house down, officers said.

The couple then left the house and called 911 to report the incident.

According to the State Fire Marshal, the threats were confirmed and found to be credible.
