UFC 305 Live Blog: Li Jingliang vs. Carlos Prates

This is the UFC 305 live blog for Li Jingliang vs. Carlos Prates, the first main event this Saturday in Perth, Australia.

When Jingliang joined the UFC in 2014, he struggled to find his feet at first, but then went on an impressive run, reaching 7-1 and breaking into the top 15 of the UFC welterweight rankings. A loss to Neil Magny derailed “The Leech” however, and since then he hasn't been able to get a moment of his own, alternating between winning and losing. To make matters worse, this is Jingliang's first fight in nearly two years as he has struggled with injuries, and he returns to a tough test in Prates.

Prates, who has currently won nine fights in a row, came last year after the Contender Series, and “The Nightmare” has proven just that to his opponents, knocking out Trevin Giles and Charles Radtke already this year. If Prates can do the same to Jingliang, he could have a chance to break into the welterweight rankings in his next fight.
