ROSEVILLE – Two theft suspects are facing charges this week in Roseville with suspected stolen goods valued at several hundred dollars.

Roseville police said officers received a report of a burglary at a business on Five Star Boulevard on Thursday.

Officers were told the suspects fled in a red pickup truck.

This rather conspicuous vehicle was soon spotted and stopped by officers near the Goodwill store on Fairway Drive in Roseville.

According to police, stolen goods valued at over $950 were found in the pickup truck. Officers also found meth, heroin and drug paraphernalia.

The names of the suspects have not been released, but police say the pair face multiple charges including grand larceny, conspiracy and organized shoplifting.

Under Proposition 47, theft in California can only be prosecuted as a crime if items valued at more than $950 are stolen.

This law, which increased that amount from $400, has been under constant scrutiny since its passage in 2014.

On Friday, Governor Gavin Newsom signed a package of laws to curb organized shoplifting and other property crimes.
