Elle King does not want to be associated with her “toxic” father Rob Schneider

Elle Koenig said during an episode of Bunny XO's “Dumb Blonde” podcast that she does not want to be associated with her celebrity father Rob Schneider and his controversial views.

King confessed to the podcast host that she idolized her father during her childhood, but that admiration faded as he was not often involved in her life. She claimed he never remembered her birthdays and sent her to “fat camp” during her childhood.

“I haven't spoken to my dad in four or five years,” the singer-songwriter said. “My dad called me and said, 'Don't you fucking talk about me in the press.' I said, 'Fuck off.'”

The “Ex's and Oh's” singer said if she ever spent a summer with her father, it was on a movie set.

“I just got lost in the hustle and bustle,” she continued. “I was a really, really heavy kid and my dad sent me to fat camp. Then I got in trouble for a year because I sprained my ankle and didn't lose weight – very toxic and silly. My dad forgot every single birthday. I spent my 18th birthday at summer school and they brought me cupcakes. I came home and my dad forgot my birthday.”

Speaking about her current relationship, Elle said: “I don't want to be associated with him. I don't agree with a lot of the things he says. You can want someone to change so much and ultimately you can't control other people's actions. You can't control other people's feelings. You can only control how you react and what you do with your feelings.”

In a subsequent interview with Tucker Carlson, Schneider responded to King's comments and asked for forgiveness for not being the father she needed.

“I just want to say to my daughter Elle that I love you and wish I had been the father you needed in my twenties,” Schneider said. “I obviously wasn't. I hope you can forgive me for my mistakes. I love you with all my heart and I love you completely.”

“I just want you to be safe and happy with your beautiful baby, Lucky,” he added. “I wish you the best. I feel terrible. Just know that I don't take anything you say personally.”
