A player to watch in the Tennessee Titans' second preseason game

0

The Tennessee Titans have been holding joint practices with the Seattle Seahawks ahead of their preseason game on Saturday. Titans head coach Brian Callahan has stated that the starters will not play, leaving plenty of time for reserve players to become starters and for players who are still on the fence to try to make the team.

One to watch tonight is rookie receiver Jha'Quan Jackson. Jackson was drafted in the sixth round by the Titans and has had an impressive training camp. With the Titans missing top receiver Deandre Hopkins for some time due to injury, they needed a receiver to step in, and quarterback Will Levi's was impressed with the Tulane product.

Callahan also talked about Jackson's versatility and his contributions to the offense.

“He's getting better every day and I think that's all you can ask of him,” Callahan said Wednesday. “He played well, had a nice punt return [and] had a really explosive play today with a 70-yard touchdown. That was a real touchdown. He has to keep having days like that and keep asserting himself.”

Jackson is an entertaining player who is a 5'10″ slot receiver with blazing speed. He was an exceptional threat down the stretch at Tulane, running a 4.4-second 40-yard dash. He also has good footwork that helps him pick up yards after the catch.

He is currently the third kickoff returner and fifth receiver on the Titans' roster.

Size is a limiting factor for Jackson, but some players can play bigger than they are. The starters had a rough week in training camp, and with all the reserves playing today, Jackson has a chance to make the second team's offense stand out more than it did last week in a disappointing performance.
