Here is the first Gladiator 2 trailer with Paul Mescal and Pedro Pascal

0

Gladiator 2 hits theaters in November and we finally have the first trailer for the highly anticipated sequel.

The trailer is mostly made up of footage that premiered at CinemaCon in April, including Lucius (Paul Mescal) fighting a rhinoceros, a spectacular sea battle in the Colosseum (which actually happened), and Mescal's fight with General Acacius (Pedro Pascal).

In any case, it seems as if Ridley Scott has made the wait for the sequel worth it.

We knew the trailer was coming today (July 9) after Paramount released the first poster for Gladiator II on Monday, following initial images revealed last week.

Mescal plays the son of Connie Nielsen's Lucilla from the first film, who we see in the trailer giving the ring to her son Maximus. Elsewhere in the trailer, Lucius confirms that he was present at the fateful battle between Maximus and Commodus.

Gladiator 2 takes place nearly two decades after the events of the first film. Lucius is now an adult and estranged from his mother Lucilla, having been sent as a child to the North African region of Numidia, far away from the Roman Empire.

The film begins in Numidia. Viewers see Lucius living a relatively simple life with his wife and child. But when the Romans advance ruthlessly into North Africa, he is forced to act and comes into conflict with General Acacius (Pascal).

The new release date for Gladiator 2 is November 15th in the UK – the originally planned release date was November 22nd.

Washington is portrayed as a former slave who became a wealthy merchant with influence at the Roman court, while Joseph Quinn and “The White Lotus” actor Fred Hechinger play co-emperors Caracalla and Geta.

Hechinger replaced Barry Keoghan in “Gladiator 2” after the actor from Saltburn had to cancel due to scheduling conflicts.

Gladiator II will be released in UK cinemas on November 15th and in US cinemas on November 22nd.
