Bengaluru: CM Siddaramaiah firmly rejected calls for his resignation on Saturday after governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot's consent to prosecute him in connection with the Muda land allotment 'scam'. Siddaramaiah assured that he had done nothing wrong and would not resign.
Siddaramaiah described the governor’s decision as “unconstitutional and illegal” and announced that he would challenge the sanction in court. conspiracy to topple the elected government. They (the BJP) have done this in several states, including Delhi and Jharkhand. A conspiracy has been hatched to destabilise the Karnataka government too. “The central government, the BJP, the JD(S) and others are involved in this conspiracy,” Siddaramaiah told reporters.
Emphasizing his unwavering support from the Congress leadership, his cabinet and the party members, he asserted, “The leadership (of the Congress) is behind me, the entire cabinet and the government are behind me. All Congress MPs, MLCs, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members are behind me….I have done nothing wrong against resign.” tnn
