APD attempts to arrest armed barricaded man

Albuquerque Police are attempting to apprehend an armed suspect barricaded in a residence in the 400 block of Roma NE**. Police reports say at least one shot was fired during a foot chase before the suspect entered the residence.

We have received numerous tips of police activity near Lead and Walter and Broadway and Lead. There are also reports of police presence near Coal and Broadway, Lomas and Broadway and Silver and Lomas.

The situation continues as APD officers set up a security perimeter. They are actively working to ensure everyone's safety while simultaneously negotiating with the suspect. APD is awaiting the arrival of the SWAT team.

This is reportedly an officer-involved shooting, however we have not heard from APD if any officers were injured or if the suspect was hit.

SWAT officers attempt to negotiate with an armed suspect who is refusing to leave a property in the area of ​​Arno St. and Lead Ave. Several streets in the neighborhood are closed. Residents are asked to avoid the area.

APD's Bearcat is located at the corner of Silver and Arno, so people are advised to avoid that area as well.
