Important fan information for the Chiefs charity game on Saturday at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium

0

The Kansas City Chiefs host the Detroit Lions on Saturday, August 17, in the first of the club's two preseason home games at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Fans will find important information and reminders for Saturday's game below.

Saturday's game is the 40th annual Chiefs Charity Game. Since its inception in 1985, and thanks to the vision of Lamar Hunt and the Hunt family, the Chiefs Charity Game has raised more than $16 million for local charities that support those in need. The 2024 Chiefs Charity Game will be the first year that Jackson County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is the beneficiary of the game. Over the past three years, the Chiefs Charity Game has raised more than $1.4 million for MOCSA (Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault) to hire additional prevention specialists and coordinators and increase education and prevention efforts in schools.

CASA volunteers are community volunteers who advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect. Jackson County CASA recruits, trains, and supports these CASA volunteers to advocate for the best interests of children who are in the Jackson County Family Court system until they have a safe and permanent home. Since 1983, Jackson County CASA has provided procedural care (legal advocacy) for abused and neglected children and youth from birth to age 21 who enter the Jackson County Family Court system. Jackson County CASA is accredited by the National CASA Association (NCASA) and is a member of the Missouri CASA Association. It is one of over 950 programs nationwide and 23 statewide.

The first CASA program was created in 1977. In 1982, after judges across the country began using CASA volunteers to assist in their cases, the National Court Appointed Special Advocates Association was formed to lead the nascent movement. Since the first program in 1977, CASA volunteers have helped over 2 million abused children nationwide. For more information about Jackson County CASA, visit www.casakc.org/.

The Hunt family and team founder Lamar Hunt established the Hunt Family Foundation in 1983 to support charitable organizations in the greater Kansas City area. The Hunt Family Foundation is committed to making a positive impact on those in need in the communities where we live and work through philanthropy, programs and volunteerism. The Hunt Family Foundation will present a check to Jackson County CASA at halftime of Saturday's game.

Nini Iris, contestant on the 24th season of “The Voice,” will sing the national anthem while the Kansas City East High School JROTC will present the colors.
