Ohio mother arrested after viral video shows alleged child abuse

DAYTON, OH — A Dayton woman is in custody after a disturbing video surfaced on social media allegedly showing her yelling at and hitting her child. The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of 21-year-old Haley Marie Ryan, who now faces charges of child endangerment.

The video, which quickly went viral, sparked numerous reports to authorities. Detectives from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the Dayton Police Department, immediately investigated the incident. Ryan was located and taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon.

The child in question was placed in the care of the youth welfare office and is reportedly safe.

“We would like to thank the community for bringing this to our attention,” the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office said. “Please remember: If you see something, say something!”

Formal charges against Ryan are pending and the investigation is ongoing.

  • Frederick Police Arrest Suspect in Heather Ridge Drive Murder

    FREDERICK, MD (Saturday, August 17, 2024) – Frederick Police have arrested Elijah Stephen Mboss in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred late Friday night on Heather Ridge Drive.

    At approximately 11:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the scene and discovered an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers immediately rendered medical aid to the victim until emergency medical services arrived. The victim was then transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

    Mboss was arrested shortly after the incident during a traffic stop near the crime scene. Police linked him to the murder and took him into custody without incident. He now faces charges of first-degree murder and negligent homicide.

    The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to collect evidence and determine the motive for the shooting.
