Good morning, racing fans! Live to you from Budds Creek Motocross Park in Mechanicsville, Maryland, as we get ready for round ten of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship.

We're expecting highs of around 30 degrees Celsius today with humidity around 75 percent and a chance of rain around 40 percent. It will be a warm day with isolated showers throughout the day. Ezra Beasley's “chocolate cake” sand should give us another exciting day of racing.

With just two rounds left in this championship, Haiden Deegan (Yamaha) has a 70 point lead with just 100 points left to be awarded, making it likely that Deegan will take the 250cc title this weekend. Although the number 1 plate will most likely go to Deegan at the end of the day, we expect a great battle between Deegan, Levi Kitchen, Jalek Swoll, Ty Masterpool, Tom Vialle and more.

Note that Chance Hymas (battered) is in the mix, as is RJ Hampshire, who is making his debut in the 2024 pro motocross season. Casey Cochran (arm injury) and Jo Shimoda (broken collarbone) are out this weekend. Hampshire told us on Friday that he honestly doesn't know how he'll perform today, he could either “explode” and fall back or challenge for a podium/win. Either way, the 2024 250SX West Region champion is excited to be back racing. As for Hymas, he's battered, but he felt good enough to race twice this week, and he's ready to compete with momentum. Keep in mind that this venue is completely new to the Idaho native due to his knee injury last year. Will he be able to pick up where he started last weekend before his bad crash?

In the premier class, Chase Sexton (KTM) heads into the race with a 28-point lead over Hunter Lawrence (Hunter Lawrence). Cooper Webb is out this weekend after spraining the same thumb that has kept him out of action all summer on his debut last weekend in New York. Eli Tomac (Yamaha) is in the mix as he makes his season debut. Tomac told us on Friday: “Oh yeah, I wouldn’t be happy with fourth or fifth! Definitely aiming for the podium, yeah, that’s our mindset. Trying to get some good starts.” So expect Tomac to fight this weekend, although it won’t be easy as Sexton and Lawrence have been at a different level this summer and Justin Cooper, Aaron Plessinger and Jason Anderson are also looking great. And Broc Tickle makes his second and final start of the summer as the Kawasaki full-time test rider had planned to compete in this event in July when it was announced he would be competing in the RedBud National. In addition, the battle for points in the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) should ensure great racing.

Qualification begins at 8 a.m. local time (Eastern Time).
