Cincinnati Reds want to strike back after defeat against Royals

The Cincinnati Reds (60-62) lost 7-1 to the Kansas City Royals (67-55) on Friday night at Great American Ball Park.

In the second game of the series, Nick Lodolo will start for the Reds.

The left-hander is 9-4 with a 3.99 ERA this season, but has struggled recently. In his last eight starts, he is 1-2 with a 5.86 ERA. In his last start, he threw 5 1/3 innings and allowed three runs on just three hits in a 4-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. He allowed three walks and had four strikeouts.

Michael Wacha will start for Kansas City. The right-hander has a 9-6 record and a 3.50 ERA this year. He has allowed two runs or less in each of his last three starts, including his most recent start when he pitched seven innings of two runs in an 8-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Reds and Royals will face off in the second game of the series on Saturday night at 6:40 p.m. ET.
