Cocktails and Mocktails – Free Bartender School

0

This one fell on my table today and caught my attention. The Graton Resort in Rohnert Park is hosting a free week-long bartending school. It runs from September 23rd to 27th. If you are interested in a new career or know someone who is, this could be the right move at the right time.

For those who mix it up at home, here's a seasonal cocktail or mocktail—the choice is yours. Reduce the carbs in homemade fruit puree by combining white sugar with monk fruit or another carb-free sweetener.

Farmers Market Fizz with less sugar

Makes two drinks (with extra puree)

4 sprigs of mint

2 shots of vodka, gin or rum (optional)

2 tablespoons Farmers Market Fruit Puree

2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice

soda water

Ice

Muddle mint sprigs with a wooden spoon or chopsticks in a cocktail shaker. Add alcohol, puree, lemon juice and ice. Shake well. Pour into a glass with ice. Top up with soda. Garnish with a slice of fruit from the puree, lemon and/or a mint sprig.

Farmers Market Fruit Puree

½ cup summer fruits, chopped (try strawberry, peach, cherry, nectarine, plum…)

1/3 cup candy (I use 2 tablespoons of carb-free Swerve or monk fruit plus 1 tablespoon of white sugar)

¼ cup water

In a small saucepan, combine the ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, ensuring the temperature remains low and just simmering. Remove from heat and mash the pulp well with a fork. Blend in a mini food processor. Allow to cool.
