0

Alien: Romulus hit theaters this weekend and, not surprisingly, opened at #1 in North America. According to Deadline, current projections suggest Fede Alvarez's reboot will debut with over $40 million, following a total of $18.5 million in Thursday/Friday previews.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the film is already “Certified Fresh” with 81% and has been awarded a B+ CinemaScore. Foreigner was released before the introduction of CinemaScore, but James Cameron’s sequel, Alienshas the best rating of the franchise with A.

Afterwards there is Alien vs Predator (B), Prometheus (B), Alien: Covenant (B), Alien – Rebirth (B-), Alien 3 – The Wonderful World of Aliens (C) and Alien vs Predator: Requiem (C).

A B+ sets Alien: Covenant directly behind Aliens as the second best rated part, so a solid result.

Back to the box office results and Deadpool and Wolverine will slip to second place with an expected $27-29 million after bringing in $8.5 million on Friday. It ends with us is aiming for third place with a yield of 23 million dollars.

At selected screenings of Alien: Romulusa short 10-second teaser trailer for FX and Noah Hawley’s upcoming Alien: Earth is shown before the film starts.

It appears to be a Regal Cinemas exclusive in the US and shows the Earth reflected in the head of a Xenomorph before the iconic alien stares menacingly at the screen. We then cut to a title card confirming that the show will premiere next year.

Although this little teaser doesn't give much away, it looks like the Xenomorphs will finally be unleashed on our planet (hence the title).

The sci-fi/horror thriller takes the phenomenally successful Foreigner Franchise back to its roots: While combing the depths of an abandoned space station, a group of young space colonizers encounter the most terrifying life form in the universe.

The main roles in the film are played by Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), David Jonsson (Agatha Christie's murder is simple), Archie Renaux (Shadows and Bones), Isabela Merced (The Last of Us), Spike Fearn (After sun), Aileen Wu. Fede Alvarez (evil Dead) directs from a screenplay he wrote together with Rodo Sayagues (Don't breathe 2) based on characters created by Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett.

Alien: Romulus is produced by Ridley Scott (Napoleon), who directed the original film “Alien” and produced and directed the subsequent episodes of the series Prometheus And Alien: CovenantMichael Pruss (Boston Strangler) and Walter Hill (Foreigner), with Fede Alvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon (Charlie's Angels), Brent O’Connor (High-speed train) and Tom Moran (Unstoppable) as executive producers.

The film is now in cinemas.
