Tennessee Titans: Who needs to improve the most in Week 2 of preseason against the Seahawks?

0

The Tennessee Titans started the preseason on a positive note by defeating the San Francisco 49ers last weekend. In the second week of the preseason, the Titans will face another NFC West opponent, the Seattle Seahawks.

Of course, the preseason games are all about player development and evaluation. It will be interesting to see which players can improve their place on the roster with a strong performance. Last weekend, linebacker Chase Campbell had a great game.

Who will be the star this week? Well, several players could use a big game. Let's identify the players the Seahawks will need to face if they hope to make the initial 53-man roster.

Tennessee Titans need to improve

Replacement RBs

We know that Tyjae Spears and Tony Pollard will be the Titans' running backs. What we don't know is which other running backs will make the roster.

In the first week of preseason, Hassan Haskins was the best running back from deep, managing 8 carries for 27 yards. Jabari Small had the most runs but struggled behind the backup offensive line. Julius Chestnut has been around for a while now but has struggled as well.

Will either Small or Chestnut move up? Or will the team sign an external newcomer for the last RB spot?

Safety orienteering

The Titans' offensive line performed admirably last week, but the reserve players struggled greatly and it is currently difficult to predict who will secure the final spots on the roster.

The backups were overused in the running game, and Small and Chestnut were only able to average 1.8 yards per run as a result. Every pressure and hit the 49ers made on the quarterback was against backups on the offensive line.

Who will step up and prove they deserve a spot? Andrew Rupcich, Lachavious Simmons, John Ojukwu and Jaelyn Duncan are certain players who will have to prove they belong on the roster.

Edge striker

The Titans desperately need an edge rusher or two to step up this preseason, and with Arden Key's looming suspension, an already weak unit will need even more help.

Against the 49ers, the Titans only recorded two sacks, one of which was Campbell, and the other was split between Keondre Coburn and depth edge rusher Khalid Duke.

Good play from Jaylen Harrell, Rashad Weaver or Shane Ray would alleviate some of the concerns surrounding this position group. If none of these backups can step up, the Titans may have to look outside the organization for reinforcements.
