A Steam game with full Steam Deck support is now available to download for free.

Steam users can now download a popular game for free, no subscription required. What's more, Steam Deck owners can get in on the action, as the game is “verified” on Valve's portable machine. As Steam Deck users may know, this means Valve has confirmed that the game is not only fully functional on the Steam Deck, but, as Valve describes it, “works great” with the Steam Deck's display and controls.

The free download isn't coming from Valve's own digital store, but is being provided by Fanatical, an online video game retailer officially authorized to sell game keys, including for Steam games. And right now, all Steam users get a free game by subscribing to Fanatical's newsletter, which costs no more than the few seconds it takes to type an email.

More specifically, Fanatical offers Intravenous from publisher HypeTrain Digital and developer Explosive Squat Games for free. At the time of this writing, the offer is available until August 22nd or while supplies last, whichever comes first.

For those who are not familiar with Intravenousis an old-school tactical stealth action game released in 2021 by the aforementioned duo. And apparently, it's pretty good, or at least that's what the Steam user reviews suggest. On Steam, the game boasts 2,169 user reviews, 92 percent of which are positive, giving the game a “Very Positive” rating. This is the second-highest rating a game can receive on Steam, and is just a few points below the highest rating a game can achieve, “Overwhelmingly Positive.” Below, you can read more about the self-proclaimed “love letter to the early Splinter cell games.”

“You've just entered the warehouse through the ventilation shaft when you hear voices from outside. You know you're here. Someone must have warned them,” reads an official description of the game on Steam. “You continue to stay in the shadows. You shoot out lights, turn off fuses, and crack doors. You're a silent assassin. You distract the guards by throwing bottles or imitating the voices of their wives. One by one, you crack their lights. Damn. You're compromised. You shoot out the nearest door lock and go in with your guns drawn. In an adrenaline-fueled shootout, you eliminate your target and narrowly escape. Well done!”

If you decide to check out Intravenous on Steam or Steam Deck via this offer, you can expect a game that takes about eight to ten hours. Completionists will need a little longer with the Steam game, however, as 100 percent completion takes about 12 hours.
