Plot

Uglies is about a teenager named Tally Youngblood and her dreams of becoming beautiful. Tally's story takes a turn when she learns that the company she relied on for her plastic surgery is a fraud.

People who have read the original novel Uglies say that Tally is the main character in the whole story and that the girl goes through so much physically and mentally. She also goes through various transformations just to look pretty. She becomes pretty like she always wanted to be, but her life also changes.

Announcing the film's release on X (formerly Twitter), Netflix wrote: “Perfection is an illusion. UGGIES, based on the bestselling novel.”

Since the release of Uglies was announced, social media has been awash with recommendations to read the novel that actually served as inspiration for the film.
