Two men arrested by police in Belfast during an investigation into the activities of the New IRA were released on Saturday after questioning.

The men, aged 39 and 51, were arrested on Friday under the Terrorism Act by investigators from the PSNI's Terrorism Investigation Unit.

They were taken to the Musgrave Serious Crime Suite for questioning.

A PSNI spokesman said similar searches on Friday at properties in north and west Belfast also resulted in mobile phones, cash and a small quantity of cannabis being seized.

“The items will now undergo further forensic examination,” they added.
