Honeoye Falls-Lima Football 2024 Schedule, Top Players, Cougars Preview

When it comes to consistency, few Section V teams can match Honeoye Falls-Lima. The Cougars have appeared in four Section V championship games in the last five years, winning once.

This fall, the situation in Class B is changing. Defending champion Monroe, who eliminated HFL in the title game last year, has been promoted to Class A.

HFL has some holes to fill. The Cougars lost five All-Greater Rochester selections from last season to graduates — lineman Austyn Crego, quarterback Matt Meacham, receiver Andrew Wanzenried, running back Ben Cook and linebacker Aaron Fasick. But if history is any indication, HFL can step up for another run in Class B.

“We have lost a lot of great talent,” said HFL coach John Russ. “We will be young and have to grow up quickly.”

Top duels for Honeoye Falls – Lima

The Week 5 game against Batavia is firmly circled on the HFL calendar. The two programs are Class B stalwarts, with one or the other — or both — having reached the sectional final every year since 2018. During that span, the teams have met twice for the championship. HFL won the game in the spring of 2021, while Batavia made amends in the fall. The Cougars won each of the teams' two meetings last year, including their meeting in the sectional semifinals.
