Black Myth: Wukong is set to launch next week and the first leaks have already started to surface. Most recently, a 30-minute gameplay video was uploaded to YouTube, showing off an early boss fight sequence and some live exploration of the upcoming action-packed game. While it remains online, you can check it out below.

Larger than average

The Black Myth: Wukong's leaked gameplay video shows the player going through an intense boss battle – but it's mostly cinematic. In the first few minutes of the video, we see the protagonist, based on the ancient Chinese character “Sun Wukong,” fighting giant enemies, all of whom effectively punch the crap out of him.

In one scene, one of them conjures a gigantic axe strong enough to split a mountain in half.

Once that's done, the character's environment changes (after more cutscenes) and the player is transported to a more educational environment. Over the next fifteen minutes, the story unfolds as the player must fight more lower-level enemies in a dense forest filled with ancient ruins.

Here is the video:

There are some obvious time jumps that allow for some of the most interesting enemies in the game to be shown, such as a humanoid enemy with a giant head the size of a house.

It looks good – the combat isn't all that innovative, but it looks well-built and challenging, which is what people expect from this game. The graphics are stunning, and the cutscenes are cinematic enough to keep players engaged and immersed in the story.
