Detectives from the Strategic Investigations Unit (SIU) began investigating the gang in January. According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), the gang is called the “Walk Down Everybody Killers” or “EBK.”

According to CSPD, the group is responsible for numerous crimes in the area, including gun possession, robberies, assaults, shootings and drive-by shootings. The group is made up of juveniles and young adults.

According to court documents, during the investigation, investigators discovered that one member was in possession of a handgun with an attached “switch,” a device that allows a handgun to fire fully automatically. Guns with switches attached are classified as “dangerous or illegal weapons” under the Colorado Revised Statute. That member was identified as 18-year-old Josiah Olivas.

Court documents show that a detective initially discovered the illegal handgun in Instagram posts. The detective was eventually able to determine that Olivas was the person pictured in the posts with the illegal handgun.

After determining Olivas' address, a search warrant was obtained for the home on E. Fountain Blvd. Court documents show that when investigators went to the home to execute the search warrant on August 15, 2024, they encountered Olivas' mother, who said he was in the basement.

When investigators searched the basement, they found a 9mm Glock semi-automatic pistol with a “switch” on the rear of the slide. The gun was loaded with an extended magazine. Court documents show that investigators were then able to determine that it was the same gun they had seen in the Instagram posts. Olivas was taken into custody at that point.

The affidavit goes on to say that Olivas told investigators he purchased the switch on a private marketplace called DH Gate.

Olivas faces a class five felony for possession of a dangerous or illegal weapon and a class six felony for possession of a prohibited high-capacity magazine, the arrest affidavit states.
