Bronx students complete free swimming program

A two-week “learn to swim” program held its graduation ceremony today at Roberto Clemente State Park. Organizers told News 12 that about 26 students graduated today. According to their website, the program is for children ages 1 ½ to 17.

News 12 spoke to proud parents who watched their children show off their swimming skills. This skill helps children get fitter and become more confident. One local mother told us why it's so important for children to learn to swim at a young age.

“I've seen so many accidents on the news because children don't know how to swim. That's why I think it's really important that all children learn to swim,” said Angela Davenport.

Participation in the program is free. You will find the link to register below.
