Social media star iShowSpeed defeats UFC champion in two weight classes in a striking contest

UFC's hardest hitter Alex Pereira apparently lost his crown to a social media star during a fan convention on Friday.

Pereira famously scored higher than former heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou on the UFC Performance Institute's PowerKube, a device that measures punch velocity, and he tested his power on a traditional punching machine during an appearance at Fanatics Fest on Friday.

However, just moments later, streaming sensation iShowSpeed took on the same challenge and appeared to score an even higher. Fans have since taken to social media to express their dismay at “Speed” and yet another athletic feat.

Streamer iShowSpeed scores higher Punch Machine score than Alex Pereira

During Fanatics Fest, fighters and spectators had the opportunity to test their striking power on a standard striking machine. UFC light heavyweight and former middleweight champion Alex Pereira tried it out and impressed fans with a score of 907.

What seemed truly remarkable, however, was the athletic ability of streamer iShowSpeed, who, after defeating Adin Ross in a light grappling match, defeated Pereira. The streamer is reportedly around 5'8″ tall and has a lean physique that has seen him out-box many professional athletes.

But he hit the machine in just the right place and scored 921 points, putting him ahead of Pereira on the leaderboard. He celebrated with his fans before demanding to be given his UFC debut despite having almost no fighting experience.

Dana White warns iShowSpeed about a callout by Alex Pereira

Speed quickly asked UFC boss Dana White to prepare him for a fight, after which the promoter asked him if he would be interested in facing Adin Ross, but instead demanded that he face Pereira despite the huge size difference.

“You said you were going to give me the fight, brother,” Speed told White before turning Ross down and insisting he gets his debut against Pereira. The UFC promoter responded: “That's a bad idea, have you seen him? He's here, I think when you see him you'll change your mind.”

Speed seemed unfazed, declaring: “I'm ready for my debut, brother.” His previous experience includes lightweight boxing and an infamous live stream session with YouTube boxer KSI, who brutalized him during a charity sparring session.

Alex Pereira scored the highest score in UFC PI PowerKube history

It probably wouldn't be a good idea for Speed to even provoke Alex Pereira, given the Brazilian's extensive fighting experience and mythical power. On his way to becoming a two-weight champion, he has knocked out Israel Adesanya, Jamahal Hill and Sean Strickland, among others.

And in April of this year, despite weighing more than 27 kilograms less than Francis Ngannou, he managed to pull off an even bigger punch at the Performance Institute's PowerKube. In 2018, the Cameroonian achieved a whopping 129,161 units.

But Pereira went much further, scoring an incredible 191,796 points that stunned his coaching team. Since then, he's landed two massive knockouts, and it would be wise for iShowSpeed or any other influencer to stay away from his power.
