Buckeye Union High School evacuated due to gas leak

PHOENIX — A gas leak forced an evacuation of Buckeye Union High School on Friday, authorities said.

According to the Buckeye Fire Department, hazardous materials crews from several jurisdictions in the valley found two buildings that smelled strongly of gas and had gas meters showing readings.

“The school was evacuated to ensure the safety of students and staff,” the fire department said.

Southwest Gas was on site with hazardous materials teams to conduct the investigation.

Buckeye Union High School is located at 1000 E. Narramore Ave.
