STAMFORD – Detectives from the Stamford Police Department's Major Crimes and Drug Division, with assistance from the Southwest Regional Emergency Response Team, executed a high-risk arrest warrant on Fairfield Avenue on the west side Wednesday morning.

The operation resulted in the arrest of a 16-year-old boy for his involvement in an attack that occurred on Friday, August 9.

Police also seized a firearm believed to have been used in the crime.

During the incident, the juvenile suspect allegedly got into a verbal argument with an underage female, pointed a firearm at her head and then physically attacked her, causing injuries.

Due to the suspect's age, his name was not released.

The suspect is charged with first-degree menacing, third-degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon and carrying a pistol without a permit, among other things.

Following the arrest and execution of the search warrant on August 14, additional charges were filed, including criminal possession of a weapon, possession of a high capacity magazine, failure to register a weapon, negligent storage of a weapon, illegal transfer of a weapon and drug possession.

The youth was taken to a juvenile detention center in Bridgeport.

Stamford police praised the investigative team's quick actions in arresting the suspect and potentially preventing further violence.
