Fortnite, Autumn BoysAnd Rocket League dig have returned to iOS and Android phones via the Epic Games Store. As promised at the beginning of this yearEpic will use its marketplace to relaunch major titles on mobile platforms following a lengthy legal battle with Apple and Google.

The Epic Game Store is currently available for download for iPhone users in the European Union, where the recently launched Digital Markets Act prohibits Apple from blocking third-party platforms. It will also be available on Android devices worldwide and in independent mobile stores such as AltStore PAL.

In a blog post introducingEpic praised the Digital Markets Act for allowing the relaunch in EU territories, but claimed Apple continues to block access in other countries. Epic also described the processes to install the Epic Game Store as “lengthy,” but blamed Apple and Google for the lengthy endeavor.

“Currently, the Epic Games Store takes a long time to install on iOS and Android because Apple and Google deliberately introduce inferior installation experiences that involve multiple steps, confusing device settings, and scare screens,” it continues.

“We continue to fight in court and work with regulators around the world to remove the anti-competitive conditions that Apple and Google impose on developers and consumers so we can build a better store for everyone.”

Despite these hurdles, Epic Games founder Tim Sweeney believes that “the tide is turning and the mobile ecosystem is finally opening up to competition.”

“We are grateful to the European Commission for allowing us to launch the Epic Games Store and enable us to offer our games to iOS users in the European Union. Now European iOS users and all Android users will be able to access our store and games as they have always been able to on open platforms like PC and Mac,” he added.

“The battle is far from over, but this is tangible progress for developers and consumers who can begin to benefit from competition and choice.”

During a recent interview with Game FileSweeney referred to the legal dispute between Epic and Apple, which led to Fortnite from iOS may have cost the company around a billion dollars in revenue. He said that fee was a “small price to pay for the future freedom of our company.”
