To those of you who still had hope, congratulations.

Electronic Arts has released the official launch trailer for Dragon Age: The Veilguardand we think you will really like it.

If you couldn't tell right away from our cover image in this post, that's because the trailer confirmed Morrigan's return. And more importantly, if you listen to the trailer, you'll notice that Morrigan's voice actress, Claudia Black, has returned with her.

As GosuGamers reports, Claudia Black flat-out lied when she said she wouldn't be returning for this latest title. Don't be too mad at her for that; different actors handle NDAs differently. In any case, wouldn't it be perfectly appropriate for Morrigan to do just that?

Morrigan is a central figure in Dragon AgeHistory, as it appeared on both Dragon Age: Origins And Dragon Age: Inquisitionas a traveling companion for the overseer and as a liaison for the inquisitor.

And yes, Morrigan was a romance option for The Warden, and the choices you made when you played Dragon Age: Origins could be incorporated into the events that unfolded when you played as Inquisitor in Dragon Age: Inquisition. No spoilers here, but for those who have played these games over the last two decades, it meant a lot.

In real life, Claudia Black is of course a popular talent among Bioware fans and gamers in general. She has appeared in cult films and shows such as Pitch black, Stargate SG-1 And Distant landscape. She was also a well-known actress in the seventh generation of console games and beyond.

Claudia's biggest roles in video games include Admiral Daro'Xen and Matriarch Aethyta in Mass effectChloe Frazer in UnchartedWhitney Chang in The Amazing SpidermanTess Everis in Determinationand Samantha Byrne in Gears of War.

Morrigan's return hints at some interesting things Dragon AgeThe story of continues. Dragon Age: The VeilguardThe creative director of, James Epler, revealed in an interview that they always intended to tell the story of Dragon Age: Inquisition. In particular, it was clear from the beginning that the story would change depending on Solas' future actions.

On the other hand, Epler also explained in another interview that the Dragon Age Franchise has no real canon. This is a conscious decision by Bioware because they want players to have their own personal experience with this game. That includes their own stories.

While previous Dragon Age Games allowed players to import their saves so that their choices from previous games could affect outcomes in future games. Since that's not an option here, we imagine they could write something creative so that Claudia doesn't say anything that hints at possible canon among all the different stories players could tell about her. Or maybe we'll get new choices for that too.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be released on October 31, 2024 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows via Steam and Epic Games Store. It will also be fully playable on Steam Deck. You can watch the official launch trailer below.
