A guide for a day trip around Indian River Bay

0

If you're looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Delaware's beach towns or are looking for affordable accommodations in Southern Delaware, Millsboro is the place to be.

The quaint town has a rural feel and plenty of farmland. With a slow but steady population growth over the past few decades, the up-and-coming hotspot offers plenty of charming shops and recreational opportunities. Millsboro is just 15 miles from the coast—about a 30-minute drive even with summer traffic. In other words, you can easily spend several hours at the beach and then return to town to enjoy a meal, shop for antiques, and visit local museums and gardens.

For potential day trippers in Millsboro, there's plenty to do right in town or a short drive away. Check out our travel guide and then plan your own ideal trip.

10am – Learn about Nanticoke history at the Nanticoke Indian Museum

The Nanticoke Indian Museum educates the public about Native American culture in rural areas. With exhibits, events, lectures and more, the museum makes it easy for Delawareans to learn about the culture and history of those who came before us. We recommend visiting during the annual Powwow on September 7th and 8th to enjoy traditional songs and dances, purchase Nanticoke crafts and immerse yourself in the living culture. If you're in town at any other time of year, stop by the museum and get a little taste of what the Powwow has to offer.
