Terrifier 3 opens Fantastic Fest 2024

0

Art the Clown will make a splash in Texas this September when horror sequel Terrifier 3 opens Fantastic Fest 2024.

Terrifier is a franchise that's growing exponentially, which means anticipation for the upcoming sequel is huge. And attendees at genre festival Fantastic Fest will be able to get their first look at Art's new film when Terrifier 3 plays on opening night.

It's going to be an eventful evening, because that same evening, as part of the Fantastic Fest gala screening, “Never Let Go,” a new film by horror master Alexandre Aja (“High Tension,” “Crawl”) will be shown. Halle Berry plays a mother who protects her twin sons by tying them to a rope that's supposed to protect them from… something.

Fantastic Fest takes place September 19-26 at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin, Texas, where weird and wonderful films from around the world are screened to sold-out audiences.

The animation section is represented this year by the new Dreamworks film “The Wild Robot”, a science fiction story featuring the voices of Lupita Nyong'o, Pedro Pascal and Mark Hamill. Also “Spermageddon” from Violent Night director Tommy Wirkola is a musical comedy about sperm.

Horror films are a big part of the festival and this year there is a new addition to the long-running VHS series called V/H/S/BEYOND. There is also a documentary about the impact and legacy of the horror classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre called Chain Reaction.

In the fascinating prequel to “Rosemary's Baby,” “Apartment 7A,” Julie Garner goes to dark places when she meets a stranger who offers her a chance at fame.

Meanwhile, Sean Baker's Cannes award-winning comedy-drama “Anora” – about a sex worker who marries an oligarch's son – gives the place a new quality, as does “The Rule of Jenny Pen,” in which John Lithgow and Geoffrey Rush go to war in a nursing home.
