Extra Butter Brooks Cascadia 18 Release Date

0

Seattle-based Brooks Running has always been a master of speed and performance, and no product line is as important in that space as their Cascadia. The first edition is a product of their collaboration with ultramarathoner Scott Jurek. The 18th entry showcases their latest and greatest technology in trail running. Cross-country, however, might be a better theme for their latest venture: they're moving east to team up with New York-based Extra Butter for the “Splash Motion” colorway.

Inspired by the “constant movement and energy of NYC,” the theme immediately jumps out, with the reworked overlays on the model switching from the rigid geometry of the main releases to the eccentric, fluid arrangement seen here. The grey of the concrete jungle forms the basis for the mesh layer directly underneath, combining with the aquatic notes to create an elegant overall vibe. To ensure this look doesn't stray too far from the usual running range, the neon green tongue and outsole stand out as highly visible accents.

Despite the overall rather radical aesthetic of this shoe, no performance aspect is sacrificed in the realization of these features. Brooks' airy DNA LOFT v2 cushioning provides a smooth ride, while the three-pronged Trail Adapt System provides propulsion and protection. Despite this, the silhouette is still well suited to whatever challenges this reimagining of city life brings.

The Extra Butter x Brooks Cascadia 18 will first release on August 16th via Extra Butter, followed by a wide launch via brooksrunning.com on August 18th. Retail price is $150 – official campaign images coming soon.
