New report: Small Ukrainian team blows up Nord Stream pipeline

A shocking new report from the Wall Street Journal claims that Ukraine was responsible for the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipeline in September 2022.

“I always laugh when I read media speculation about a huge operation involving intelligence agencies, submarines, drones and satellites,” an officer involved in the plot told the news agency. “The whole thing was born out of a night of drinking and the iron determination of a handful of people who had the courage to risk their lives for their country.”

The plan was hatched in May 2022 and initially had the approval of the Ukrainian President Volodymyr ZelenskyA group of military officials reviewed an older draft plan to destroy oil pipelines under the Baltic Sea, drawn up by Ukrainian intelligence when Russia annexed Crimea, but concluded that the project was too costly.

However, after some discussion, they came up with a cheaper plan that involved only a handful of people. The $300,000 plan called for a crew of six to be taken on a small sailboat to the middle of the Baltic Sea, where divers would attach explosives to the underwater pipes. The diving team also included a married couple to create the pretense that they were a group of friends going on a diving trip.

Although Zelenskyy approved the plan, he changed his mind after learning that the CIA had gotten wind of the plan through sources within the Dutch intelligence service MIVD. General Valery Zaluzhnythe then commander-in-chief of the armed forces, ordered the team to carry out the attack.

The attack was successful and three of the four Nord Stream pipelines were damaged by the explosion.

Ukraine continues to deny responsibility for the attack and blames Russia.
