Conspiracy against Celtics stars? NBA veterans react to Team USA's poor treatment of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown

Playing for the national team is considered a matter of honour and a sign that the respective athlete is one of the best. Especially if the respective athlete or player is invited to do so. Jayson Tatum received his invitation to join Team USA long before he led his Boston Celtics to an NBA championship. However, that invitation did not extend to his teammate and NBA Finals MVP Jaylen BrownThis and other incidents caused some to wonder what was going on.

Former players Lou Williams And Jamal Crawford We discussed this in the Underground Lounge. When we came to Team USA and what was happening, Williams commented on it.

Is there a conspiracy theory going on against Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown? I'm trying to wrap my head around this whole concept of Jaylen Brown not being on that team. The league trying to pit them against each other. I’ve never seen that. And now you got JT not getting minutes.

Lou Williams said

Former NBA player Jamal Crawford agreed that even he thought the league had been trying to break them up for years, so they took the opportunity around the Olympics to do that. According to him, the NBA initially did not select Jaylen Brown as part of the 12 players. Then, when a spot opened up, they brought in his teammate Derrick WhiteThey argued that it was more important for the team that he was fit than simply filling the team with superstars.

However, many, including Lou Williams and Jamal Crawford, did not understand why Team USA did not give Jayson Tatum any minutes at the Olympics. This was a blatant disregard for his abilities. In fact, Jrue Holiday and White played more minutes at the Paris Olympics.

The Olympic future of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown

Jrue Holiday and Derrick White are much older than the Boston Celtics' two leading superstars, so there's little chance either of them will be part of Team USA when Los Angeles 2028 takes place. However, the Jays, namely Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, will be at their best.

If they continue to improve at the rate they have, it will be difficult for Team USA and the NBA to ignore them. Or even give them sporadic playing time. Rather, they should be a part of Anthony Edwards And Tyrese Haliburton.

There are still four years left before those decisions can be made. But even then, both Tatum and Brown have put themselves in prime position to be the leading superstars at the next Olympics. The only way neither of them can play is if they are hit by injury.
