Why Tom Nolan Will win

Tom Nolan was surrounded by a huge amount of hype for his Contender Series debut and quickly showed why with a blistering first-round knockout that sent Bogdan Grad into the shadows. However, his hype significantly died down in his UFC debut when Nikolas Motta knocked him down in the first round. Nolan went back to the drawing board and came back better than ever, knocking out Victor Martinez in the first round. Now Nolan will look to extend his winning streak to two in a row when he faces Alex Reyes this weekend at UFC 305.

Tom Nolan is very tall and long and has the strength in all of his limbs to finish the fight. He is a very aggressive striker who looks to get in and out and show that he is not paid on a minute basis. In this matchup against Reyes, that will be the recipe for success. Reyes does not handle forward pressure well as he usually evades it. If Nolan can pick up the pace, throw caution to the wind and let his hands go right from the start, we could see another potential first round knockout.

Why Alex Reyes Will win

Alex Reyes is still looking for his first UFC win after being in the UFC for seven years, fighting just twice and now at 37 years old. Both of his fights in the Octagon ended with a brutal first-round knockout. Now Reyes is hoping to turn things around when he heads into enemy territory in Perth, Australia this weekend at UFC 305.

The older brother of former light heavyweight title challenger Dominick Reyes, Reyes got a late start on his UFC career at the age of 30, going 13-2 as a pro. He came into the UFC with some good results on the regional scene, defeating all 13 of his opponents, split between 9 knockouts and 4 submissions, showcasing his well-rounded skill set. Reyes has unfortunately had bad luck in his UFC career with horrible matchups and injuries that kept him out of action for years. In this matchup against Nolan, his best bet will be to try in every way possible to get within Nolan's range and drag the fight to the mat. If he can avoid the big punches and take the fight to the mat, he can get back on track this weekend.

Finale Tom Nolan-Alex Reyes Prediction & Selection

This fight between the two lightweights should be an exciting one no matter how long it lasts. Nolan will be hoping for another spectacular knockout while Reyes will be hoping to stay out of the spotlight again and get his first win in 7 years this weekend.

Ultimately, this is another terrible stylistic matchup for Reyes as the young, athletic, powerful striker Nolan goes up against the aging veteran Reyes. We can expect Nolan to step forward and throw heavy punches to eventually knock Reyes out within the first few minutes of the fight and score another first round knockout. Nolan's KO in round 1 is a good move and should be somewhere between -150 and -180.
