ZANESVILLE, OH – The Zanesville Concert Association is preparing for its 85th concert season.

To celebrate this milestone, the Concert Association is hosting a kick-off party on Saturday, August 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Secrest Auditorium.

Sheryl Wise, president of the Concert Association, says there will be fun for all ages.

“We're going to celebrate, we're going to have live music. We've got the Dixieland Band from the Memorial Band,” Wise said. “We've got Dr. Laura from the SouthEastern Ohio Symphony, we've got the Steve Spires Band, we've got free Kona ice cream for everyone. Cupcakes, while we have them, because a party without cupcakes isn't a party!”

In addition to all the events, the Concert Association also announces the program of concerts taking place in the city.

Jim McLaughlin, the booking agent, says this music season is not to be missed.

“We have 5 concerts in Zanesville and then 5 return concerts in Mt. Vernon,” McLaughlin said. “So if you buy a membership, it's a real bargain: 10 concerts for the price of one. But the opening concert is dedicated to Tony Bennett with Michael Feinstein, since Tony passed away a year ago.”

Other concerts include the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Boys Choir and the Duttons from Branson, Missouri.
