Celebrations begin with the announcement of A-Level results at the City of London Academy Islington

The students of the City of London Academy Islington celebrated their exam results today.

They achieved a 45% pass rate at grades A* to B at A Level and an overall pass rate of 99% across all A Levels, with a 100% pass rate on BTEC courses.

The City of London Academy Islington is a member of the City of London Academies Trust, which runs the academies supported by the City of London Corporation.

Following an Ofsted inspection in 2019, the school was rated “Outstanding”.

The City Corporation, through the Trust, sponsors ten high-performing academies in Hackney, Islington, Newham and Southwark. It is also the local education authority for one state primary school in the City of London and owns four private schools. Five out of ten schools in the City of London Academies Trust have an 'outstanding' Ofsted rating and three are rated 'good' with 'outstanding' features.

Headteacher of City of London Academy Islington, Sonia Jacob, said:

“Our students and teachers have worked incredibly hard over the last two years to achieve these results and they can be proud of themselves.

“The entire school community is happy for them and wishes them all the best for the next phase of their lives.”

Chair of the City of London Academies Trust Board, Catherine McGuinness, said:

“Congratulations to City of London Academy Islington. Today is an important step for our students who have worked so hard to achieve these results.

“Our goal is to prepare them for a bright future with an education that enriches and inspires them, and we wish them every success in that endeavor.”
