After losing to New Jersey in the second game of the Metro Region tournament, the South Shore Little League fought its way to the championship. In a return game against New Jersey, Stephen Grippa pitched five scoreless innings and scored two RBIs, leading the South Shore LL to its third World Series appearance. The last time it appeared was in 1991.

Although Paseo Verde Little League lost its first game of the Mountain Region tournament, a no-hitter by Wyatt Erickson in the regional championship game helped defeat Utah, 2-0. For the second consecutive year, Nevada will represent the Mountain Region in the LLBWS. It will be the third time in tournament history that the state has traveled to Williamsport and the first time that Paseo Verde LL has participated.
