In the week ending August 10, initial jobless claims fell by 7,000

Washington, DC, August 15, 2024 – For the week ended August 10, the preliminary number of seasonally adjusted initial claims was 227,000, according to the Labor Department, a decrease of 7,000 from the previous week’s revised level.

The previous week's figure was revised up by 1,000 from 233,000 to 234,000. The four-week moving average was 236,500, down 4,500 from the previous week's revised average. The previous week's average was revised up by 250 from 240,750 to 241,000.
